More than one billion people live in persistent hunger. And the
numbers are increasing. Yet there’s plenty of food to go around –
twice as much as we need to feed everyone on the planet. In 2000
political leaders of all countries committed themselves to halving
the number of hungry and undernourished people in the world by the
year 2015. Yet since that pledge was made, little progress has been
made.
Activista does not accept that hunger is inevitable – it is a
man-made and unnecessary injustice.
A world without hunger is possible. It requires investment in
sustainable agriculture, land rights especially for women, an end
to land grabbing and a fair global climate deal. We campaign to
make these demands reality.
